Meet Richard Mille the brain behind Richard Mille brand and Nigerians that have the wrist watch
Richard Mille began his professional carrer in watch industry during the beginning of the quartz crisis,a time when the traditional Swiss mechanical watch industry was heavily under threat from less expensive electronic quartz watches produced in Asia.
He worked for a company that was eventually sold to Seiko, one of the Japanese watch companies that was only seen as a major enemy to the Swiss during this era(the Swiss has recently started to forgive the Japanese watchmaker)but that was also one of the handful companies agressively trying to buy up many traditional watch brands.
This time during the 1980s there was complicated and extreme transformation for the surviving of traditional watch brands.
For instance at that time Switzerland had only 3% of the total share of the watch sales around the globe.
He not only learned the watch industry but also gained entrepreneurship skill.in the early 1990s he joined the French jewelry company mouboussin as their head of watch making,Less than a decade later, the first Richard Mille brand timepiece was released in 2001.
He learned the importance of image, exclusivity and lifestyle. He understood that while in high quality a timepiece should also have an inherent value, most customers in the luxury sphere didn't buy the product just because it was of high quality but because of it's inherent value.
The first element to consider is the case and specifically about the tonneau shaped(barrel) case with which Richard Mille established himself.there were 3 metal used in the case manufacture.
White gold,Red gold and Titanium.
Richard Mille's wrist watch price start at around $80,000usd and goes up to several million dollars for some of the more exotic timepiece.
Richard Mille release at least a few difference of $1,000,00+ watches per a year and average price of one of their tourbillon watches ranges from $500,000-$800,000.
