As the 2023 elections draw near, Aisha Yesufu, a popular socio-political activist on social media, has alleged that the opposition is looking to shatter the ambition of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP). POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Yesufu while quoting a tweet on Sunday night suggested that the ruling government will try to drive a wedge between Obi, a social media favourite, and his supporters. “What he (Obi) doesn’t get is that he is being set up! They will carry the same thugs they used to attack #EndSars protesters and destroy towns give them T-shirts with his picture and say they are his supporters. They will then be turning people against him. They did that with #EndSars,” Yesufu wrote on her verified Twitter handle. Meanwhile, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), is not ruling out the possibility of forming an alliance with Obi, but only if the latter accepts to be his running mate.
