EFCC Sentenced a Student To 1 Year Imprisonment.
A Polytechnic Student recently got sentenced to one year Imprisonment for cyber fraud in Ilorin. He was sentenced to jail on September 2nd 2021, by Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court sitting. The young boy is Identified as Olaleye Rosheed, he made an attempt to defraud and cheat a white lady.
The 21 year old student was prosecuted by the Ilorin zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to the charge that was issued in court, Olaleye disguised under the name "Christiana Lopez" on January 2021. He was pretending to be a white woman with a foreign Account. He said he was guilty after the court read out this charge to him.
It was through an intelligence report that the young boy was arrested by the EFCC. The EFCC arrested him on July 24, 2021. An iPhone was found with him when he got arrested and the phone contained alot of fraudulent messages from his email. All these were used as evidence in the court against him.
After everything he was sentenced by Justice Oyinloye to one year Imprisonment. He was also fined with the sum of N200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira) and his iPhone was given to the federal Government.
The EFCC has to be commended for their efforts in bringing down internet fraudsters in the country. Everyday we hear different of stories how they were able to arrest and sentence individuals that were caught commiting fraud. Whenever an individual involves himself in cyber crime they do not just tarnish their own image, they also tarnish the image of fellow Nigerians all over the world. This is why the EFCC is trying their best to put a stop to cyber fraud.
The youths has a lot to learn as EFCC were able to arrest this young boy. They should understand that there is no goal in making money through wrong ways. They should learn to calm down and work hard for their money. Anybody that goes through the back door to make money never ends well, they always end up regretting it. Individuals Should learn to be patient, there are series of ways they can make money and still enjoy their wealth.
This young boy that got arrested and sentenced to a year in prison will miss out on a whole year of his life. This is just because he wanted to make money quick. Hopefully the youths get to learn that yahoo doesn't really pay and it only brings sadness to the person being defrauded.
